McDonald’s Is Getting Rid Of Cheese Melt Dippers From Its Menu

McDonald’s are axing some of our favourite menu items and it sure is a sad day to be someone who only lives for these foods… I imagine. I’m annoyed, actually. I recently stopped eating meat on purpose, (i.e. if it’s made for me, I’ll eat it, but I won’t buy/order any if I can help it) and I really fell back on the Cheese dippers from McDonald’s in a big way. Alas, they are among the three things leaving the permanent menu, as the fast food chain continues to change things around because they like playing with our emotions. To be fair to them, we always knew that these would be temporary menu additions, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. I always knew my granddad was going to die, but that didn’t stop me crying in R.E. class when I was 13. The fleeting nature of things – their impermanence – is what makes them so special, so delicate. So beautiful. With that, McDonald’s are discontinuing three items, and they are as follows: Cheese melt dippers I’ll miss these. Previously, you could get your hands on four dippers for £1.79 or get a sharebox of 12 bites for £4.40, but come the 28th January, that won’t be an option. You might even see your local run out sooner, as they won’t order anymore in once they’re all eaten. Spicy Chicken McNuggets These have been and gone before. People mourned the loss of the spicy chaps and while I was a lot more bothered than the Grand Quarter Pounder was no longer with us, I did actually feel a bit bad when a friend of mine realised that he couldn’t order the nuggets anymore. If you’re a fan, you want to get to McDonald’s before the 28th this month. Mind you, these are a permanent fixture on the Australian menu, so I wouldn’t be entirely shocked if they came back. The Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon These came back for the Christmas menu and it looks like that’s all they were for as, like the other two items, come the 28th January, you will no longer be able to wrap your chops around one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of them get eaten. Who orders the Big Tasty? Pfft.
