Additionally, you can make wafers or crackers. The secret is to get them thin enough so they get crispy. WHAT DO SOUTHERN CHEDDAR CHEESE STRAWS GO WITH? Cheese straws are great as an appetizer on your charcuterie board. They also make a great snack. As well, you can eat them as a side to tomato soup or vegetable soup. Cheese straws make a great homemade gift any time of year. HOW LONG WILL CHEESE STRAWS LAST? Not very long if they’re around me! 😅 Seriously though, you can store baked cheese straws in an airtight container for 1 week. As well, store the unbaked dough in the fridge for 1 week. Furthermore, you can make them crispy again by baking the cheese straws in the oven at 350° for 3 to 4 minutes. CAN YOU FREEZE SOUTHERN CHEDDAR CHEESE STRAWS I haven’t had success freezing either the dough or the cooked cheese straws. Therefore, I don’t recommend freezing. SOUTHERN CHEDDAR CHEESE STRAWS Cheesy and crispy, this recipe is always a favorite. They’re great as a snack, appetizer, and side with salad or soup. Want to save recipes? Always leave a bit of space in between them when frying. *If your pan is small, just cut the cheese straws shorter. Remove and place on a plate with absorbent paper.
