Croatian island of Pag included on list of 9 best cheese destinations in Europe | Croatia Week

(Photo: Gligora)Leading European news network, Euronews has included the Croatian island of Pag on its list of the best destinations in the Europe for cheese lovers. The France-based network says that Europe is home to a number of the world’s most famous varieties of cheese and to help readers out they compiled a list this week of the 9 best destinations in Europe for cheese lovers.  Included on the list among some well-known destinations was the Croatian island of Pag, home to the world award-winning Paški sir. Pag is home to two formidable cheese factories, Paška Sirana and Sirana Gligora, both of whom have won a number of international awards for their cheeses.  Pag (Photo: Ivan Ulamec/Unsplash)“Croatia’s rugged Pag island is known for its lunar-looking landscape and distinctive local cheese. A must-visit for anyone who believes the moon is made of cheese,” Euronews writes, before adding. “Made exclusively on Pag is a cheese that uses milk from sheep fed  on aromatic local vegetation such as sage, which is naturally covered in sea salt by the strong winds.
