Cheese news for Cheese Management

Boris Johnson, Carrie and No10 staff pictured enjoying cheese and wine during lockdown gathering

They include Mr and Mrs Johnson and a collection of aides and civil servants, who are not observing social-distancing regulations, and a man who appears to be Martin Reynolds, Mr Johnson’s principal private secretary. Mr Reynolds is thought to be involved in the investigation into lockdown-breaching parties in Downing Street, which is being conducted by another civil servant. It comes after it was reported Downing Street staff had attended a social event on the same evening, where pizza and wine were served. A Number 10 source insisted that the photo showed officials in a “meeting” and defended Mrs Johnson’s presence in the garden of her own home. “As we said last week, work meetings often take place in the Downing Street garden in the summer months. On this occasion there were staff meetings following a No10 press conference,” the source said. “Downing Street is the Prime Minister’s home as well as his workplace. The Prime Minister’s wife lives in No10 and therefore also legitimately uses the garden.” “The prime minister consistently shows us he has no regard for the rules he puts in place for the rest of us,” she said. “Alleged drinking and partying late into the evening when the rest of us were only recently getting one daily walk.” The image follows weeks of reports of lockdown-breaking parties in Downing Street and other government buildings throughout the pandemic, including a quiz compered by the Prime Minister to celebrate Christmas last year. Other Cabinet ministers have apologised for events that took place in their own departments. Government representatives have repeatedly insisted that Mr Johnson has not broken any rules.
