Wine and Cheese Pairings with Cabot Cheese – 90+ Cellars

Wine and cheese. Name a more iconic duo… I’ll wait.  We’re heading into Valentine’s Day feeling like matchmakers because there really is no better pairing than wine and cheese. If you’re looking to have an easy but special date night at home, you can’t go wrong setting the mood with wine and cheese.  To celebrate this perfect pair, we got together with our friends at (a fellow New England brand, btw) to pair our wines with their award-winning cheddar and specialty cheeses. Our number one tip? Have some fun with your pairings and try not to take it too seriously! However, perfect pairings have the power to really take the flavor to the next level, so it helps to keep a few things in mind when it comes to what might pair best!  Here are the 90+ Cellars wines we’re pairing with our favorite Cabot Cheeses: Cabot Pepper Jack Natural Cheese – Pairs with This sparkling wine’s crisp ripe fruit and flavor intensity balances the heat and measures up to the peppery flavors of the Pepper Jack. Spicy cheeses also like sweet, so if you’re looking for another wine option, Lot 66 Riesling would also pair nicely.  Cabot Monterey Jack Cheese – Pairs with A creamy mild cheese calls for a smooth and mellow white wine. Lot 152 Chardonnay has an elegant creamy texture and a tangy finish that pairs up perfectly with Cabot’s Monterey Jack cheese. Cabot Vermont Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Pairs with A medium bodied red, with lots of fruit, and a soft texture goes perfectly with a flavorful Vermont cheddar. The slight earthy undertones of the Pinot Noir also pair nicely with the classic tasting notes of this naturally aged cheddar. Cabot Vermont Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Pairs with Lot 53 Cabernet Sauvignon Aged cheeses can be paired with more robustly textured and flavorful wines like Cabernet Sauvignon. Full body and tannin matches nicely with the bold flavor of Seriously Sharp Cheddar and other longer aged cheeses. Cabot Vermont Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese This weightier Russian River Valley Pinot Noir can measure up to the heft of a naturally aged cheese. The intense flavors of the cheese also pair well with the persistency of the Pinot Noir’s dark cherry flavors.  We hope you’ll try our pairings, tag us and let us know what you think!   To shop these wines visit the link .
